Ariel looked over her shoulder at Terra. Terra was getting ready for their oncoming battle; Terra was Ariels one love. But because of Terras bloodline they were constantly being nagged by elders and herd councils. Terra wasnt a centaur like Ariel; she was an anutaur a centaur with a stronger human side than equestrian side. Centaurs and Anutaurs were constantly bickering. The Anutaurs were peaceful and forgiving creatures that had been accepting of Terras relationship with Ariel. The centaurs however strove to drive them apart. Terra looked at Ariel and smiled softly. Ariel loved how innocent and pure Terra was; Ariel however was tainted with her familys past and her nature.
Ariel do we really have to do this? Terra asked. Ariel set down her sword and walked over to Terra.
Im afraid so, if we dont the elders wont leave us alone. I fear one of them might go too far and hurt you. Ariel said. Terra sighed and looked down.
Im sorry Ive been such a burden. Terra muttered, Ariel placed a hand on Terras cheek and made Terra face her.
My love, you are the farthest thing from a burden. Ariel said.
But what if this is not enough, what if we defeat our opponents but still come out as failures? What shall happen then?
My dear, if they continue their meaningless onslaught I shall take you far away from here, far from the fighting and rivalry. Somewhere where we are the only two there. Where it doesnt matter how much our looks differ or how our genders are the same, I shall take you to a place where we shall be able to love each other freely. She said. Terra hugged Ariel.
But is there such a place on this earth? Terra looked Ariel in her ice blue eyes. I doubt that this earth has much to offer other than prejudice and sorrow.
Terra if such a place does not exist we shall create it, I shall not let anyone tear us apart. Even if I have to fight to my last breath, I shall keep you in my arms. You shall stay with me forever, until the day our bodies become one with the earth. Terra wiped her eyes and looked at her forbidden love.
Till the day I die, I shall never stop loving you. I swear it on my mothers grave that I shall fight any battle, overcome any obstacle to keep you with me. Terra said. Ariel smiled and pulled Terra into a warm embrace. Terra had always felt so safe in Ariels arms; Ariel was the one person she could trust with anything. So right then and there Terra decided to give her life to Ariel. Terra stood on a rock to be eye level with Ariel; she rested her forehead against Ariels and smiled as the sweet scent of grass and earth emitted from Ariels skin. Ariels long brown hair flowed over her shoulders, stopping at her flanks. Her large brown ears pricked at the feeling of Terras hands around her waist. Ariel brushed a piece of black hair from Terras face and stared into her grey eyes.
I refuse to let them harm our love. Terra whispered, she kissed Ariel with all the passion and love she could create. Their fingers entwined as their tongues danced around each other. Ariels eyes were closed tightly and painfully as she knew that one of them wouldnt survive the fight. Terra seemed to know this truth too as a tear rolled down her cheek mixing with the rich earth at their feet. Terras only hope was that it was her that perished.
Ariels last hope was that Terra lived.
Two souls entwined by fate
Two souls shunned by society
Two souls unsure of their sins
Two souls in love
One cause for so many: To drive them apart.
